General Information
The new era in people's care is based on technology from Televes
The Technology Centre of Televes Corporation was the venue for the First Technology for People Summit, where the new remote assistance device from Cruz Roja was presented. Based on the concept of Ubiquitous Remote Assistance, the equipment, manufactured by our company, opens new horizons in the field of elderly and dependant care. In this paradigm, devices and systems learn from users' behaviour in order to create a care and assistance environment that respects the user's privacy and promotes is/her autonomy.
The presentation took place on the 6th of September and included a simulation in a showroom that was an exact copy of a home down to the smallest detail. It was thus confirmed that the solution developed by Televés, together with the service provided by Cruz Roja, was actually able to facilitate the lives and care of people with some degree of dependence. Coro Piñeiro, Director-General for the Seniors area of the Xunta de Galicia, the Galician regional government, was the one to enter the simulator, while the audience followed her steps on a screen. Another screen displayed a series of charts with valuable information for relatives and carers, should the person be a dependant. The operation of the automatic alarms generated by the system under certain circumstances could also be experienced, as were the warnings issued as reminders for taking a medicine, for example.
Televes has developed and is currently manufacturing the new remote-assistance device of Cruz Roja, which was presented in the company's Technology Centre
The day included the experience of Victoria Yáñez, an 87-year-old woman user of the remote assistance service, and the participation of Sara Rodríguez, responsible for business development of Digital Home in Televes, who presented the technical details. Other attendees were Alfonso Rueda, vice-president of the Xunta de Galicia, Javier Senet, president of Cruz Roja Española, and Santiago Moreno, director-general of the Vodafone Spain Foundation

The importance of a sound base
We all know how important it is to have all kinds of guarantees in terms of the quality of the building materials when buying a house.
However, this bird sure knew what to do: if it wanted a secure nest, what would make for a better foundation than a Televes antenna on which to build its home and raise its two chicks? We've always been told birds are very smart indeed.

Did you know...
that Televes took the accent out of its logo back in 2007?
Immersed in the development of incipient international markets, at that time Televes had 8 subsidiaries and more than 80 countries to attend to, all while in the midst of the digital marketing revolution; catalogs, brochures, newsletters and web pages managed in seven different languages. It was the right time to confirm the reality of our growth and implement a corporate logo with an international accent, while respecting the correct grammar rules of each language when writing the name.
Technological trens
The 4.0 industry
The consumption pattern is changing, both for professionals and final users. In this new model, the possibility of customizing and configuring the product to meet the specific needs of each user, maximizing user experience and quality of service, is a differentiating factor. Besides, users ask for more and more information about the processes followed by products before they reach their hands - in order to ensure quality and sustainability - and take an active and interactive role towards businesses, which need to adapt in a clever way to users' preferences.
This is why it is widely considered that the application of the 4.0 industry and manufacturing paradigm, enabling a hyper-connected production line and the management of the high volume of information produced by the business should be a priority for the leader manufacturers in each market.
The 4.0 industry in Televes combines an environment in which components, products, processes and staff communicate with each other, creating an automated, efficient and sustainable productive ecosystem, with tangible benefits for the consumer.
Quality improves in production by means of new technologies that minimize failures. The compliance with the strictest standards for quality and environment is promoted by means of specific traceability tools. Costs and production times are optimized due to the increase in productivity, which allows us to offer competitive prices. We exploit the information obtained from the production line to improve the product-client configuration. We develop new functions in a number of different lines to take advantage of the capabilities of this new production model, moving forward in other technological sectors such as social and health care, aviation, energy, automotive or military.
The 4.0 industry is becoming a trend in the sector of technology manufacturers, but the expertise acquired by Televes since it first started its implementation years ago has allowed to define a clear evolution path: from the company profile of a product provider for the distribution of television services to one of a technological corporation that develops turnkey solutions for the implementation, management and maintenance of high-speed telecommunication infrastructures in buildings and homes, providing end users with added-value services in the areas of leisure, communication, health and security
FAQs
How do I power my NevoSwitches-based system?
THE EXPERT SAYS
He first thing you need to know is the operating current of your power supply unit (e.g. 0,8A for Ref. 732101, or 3A for Ref. 732801). Secondly, the power consumption of your multiswitches and amplifiers. Moreover, generally all of the devices in the NevoSwitch range can be remotely powered at least through the VL entry (vertical low), either top to bottom or bottom to top.
If your system includes an amplifier, you are encouraged to connect the power supply to that amplifier in order to avoid voltage drops and achieve a better performance, since it is the element with the highest power consumption.
Let’s illustrate it with an example: take an 800mA-power supply unit and an LNB with a power consumption of 150mA. The 9-entry NevoSwitch amplifiers (Ref. 714609) have a power consumption of 270mA, the MSW 9x8 (Ref. 714601) of 40mA, and the MSW 9x24 (Ref. 714604) of 130mA (all of them in low gain (LG). Besides, you need to take into account that, should the MSW be used as not cascadable, the loads' switch needs to be activated at the end of the line, which means an increase 45mA on total consumption. This is why the use of this power supply unit allows us to cascade 1 MSW 9x8, 1 amplifier and 1 MSW 9x24 (besides powering both LNB), thus obtaining a total power consumption of 785mA

Configure a custom channel plan for your new H30FLEX in three easy steps
H30FLEX is the new hand-held meter from Televes hitting the market. It is a compact (175x100x52mm), light (less than 500g.) and strong meter, a solution for all standards. The meter is characterized by its flexibility and versatility. It is based on a satellite meter DVB-S/S2 with Dolby, and comes in 4 different options: one with DVB-T, one with DVB-T2, one with DVB-C, and one with both DVB-C and DVB-T/T2. Regardless of the selected option, the client can update his meter at any time and introduce a new standard. All the meters in this range have a 2.8" colour screen (400 x 200 pixels) and a simple keyboard for the control of all of its functions, consisting of a small structure with three buttons. The H30FLEX also includes a long-life battery and works with the "semaphore" concept for the pass/fail quality icons of all measurements.
1. Select the "Set-up" function in the main menu
The first step consists in indicating the band where you wish the new channel plan to be created - terrestrial or satellite (1a) , as well as the plan you wish to start working from:
The H30FLEX is able to analyse signals both in the terrestrial band (analogue and digital: DVB-T/T2 or DVB-C), and in the satellite band (DVB-S/S2). It includes all the necessary tools for receiving satellite signals, and is able to feed LNB (18V-22KHz: HH, 18V: HL, 13V-22KHz: VH, and 13V: VL). It also includes other functionalities, such as DiSEqC (for the switching between different satellites) and SCR, for both EN50494 and EN50607 standards; the latter is an option (1b).
22. Select the function "Capture plan"
This function analyses the entry signal and automatically detects all of the channels. Moreover, it identifies whether these channels are analogue or digital and takes the measurements associated to each of them.
A bar chart (2) is displayed, in which the height of the bars represents:
- The power, in case of a digital channel.
- The level of the video carrier, in case of an analogue channel.
For analogue channels, the system measures the video carrier level and the video-to-audio ratio (V/A). For digital channels, it measures the carrier-to-noise ratio (C/N).
For analogue channels, a small white bar inside the channel bar indicates the audio carrier level.
Besides, the colour of each bar matches the quality profiles configured by the user.
3. Push the "Home" button (once the scan is completed)
The screen will display a message asking whether you wish to save a user channel plan with only the detected channels (3a).
In order to keep a constant monitoring of your installation, you can use the Scan function with the user channel plan created previously (3b).
The system Scan uses the quality profiles in order to clearly show when a channel meets the quality requirements.

Cleaning the fusion splicer
Optical fibre fusions can be defective if they are performed with a fusion splicer lacking the required maintenance. A few cleaning recommendations can prove very useful to help you obtain a good fusion.
The little time it takes to clean the fusion splicer pays off when it comes to using it. After each working day, you are advised to follow these simple steps using a cotton swab dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
1. Cleaning the camera lenses located under the electrodes. Most of the fusion errors are due to dirt sitting on the lenses, since the equipment uses the lenses to align the fibres.
2. Cleaning the mirrors located under the cover.
3. Cleaning of the V-groove. Should the fibres be correctly aligned and the equipment warn “Reposition fibre”, some impurities could be sitting on top of the V-grooves preventing the fibre from occupying its right place.
Should the failure persist, use a stripped, cleaved and clean fibre and slip it on the V canal to push impurities away.
