General Information
Success of the ACTIVAGE international project annual review at the Televes Corporation headquarters
The second ACTIVAGE Project annual review meeting was hosted at the Televes Corporation headquarters on September 19th. Throughout an intense day of work, the representatives of the 49 organisations from seven countries participating in the project together with the reviewers from the European Commission went through the milestones reached in the nine territories where the pilots are being developed, and through the action plans for work progress. The final outcome was very successful.
The opening session featured the speeches of the Health and Social Policy ministers of the Xunta de Galicia (Galician regional government), Jesús Vázquez Almuiña and José Manuel Rey Varela respectively, and the director of the Agency for Galician Technological Modernisation, Mar Pereira. Santiago Rey, Managing Director of Televes Corporation, highlighted that the Galician pilot of ACTIVAGE led by Televes is working to reach 700 households, with users of the social and health services whose contribution will help validate the integration of the functionalities in a single device. Over 1200 devices have already been deployed: safety sensors, presence sensing devices, and medical parameter control devices, inter alia. The platform has managed around 10,000 alarms so far.

ACTIVAGE is financially supported by the Horizon 2020 European programme. With a budget of EUR 25 million and a completion deadline of 42 months, the goal is to address the challenge posed by an ageing population. To do this, the project develops an open Internet of Things-interoperable ecosystem to support the deployment of solutions aimed at increasing the safety of the elderly, while contributing to their autonomy and social involvement.
Our people
Laura Simón Campos, Innovation project development for the health sector
What is your job in Televes?
I am responsible for the development of innovation projects for the health sector. Mi job is to identify the user requirements and to develop the software needed to meet the functionalities required for each project. It involves deciding the technologies to use, planning the projected milestones, carrying out the field trials and gathering client feedback.
How long have you been working for this company? How was your career path in Televes?
I am an engineer in Computer science, and I joined Televes in 2013 with a grant. My first project consisted in the remote management of television headends. Then I started working for the Sisens project, in the health field. I have experienced a process of professional growth in which, little by little, I took on more responsibility in the decision-making process.
We are free to come up with new ideas. This makes developing software for Televes very attractive
What is the most satisfying aspect of your job?
Having the opportunity to innovate. We are not stuck with a given technology; instead, we have the freedom to come up with new ideas. For this reason, working for Televes in the field of project and application development is very attractive right now. I am also very pleased to acknowledge that our work produces real solutions for real problems in today’s society.
And what is the hardest?
The dedication required. I’m currently studying a Master’s degree in Data Analysis; obviously this requires an extra effort, but it is necessary to continue making progress. Knowing that your work is applied in such a sensitive domain as health and people’s welfare also involves a certain degree of stress. It’s a huge responsibility and you have to give all you can.
What are, in your opinion, the essential values of our company?
Care for the employees, comradeship and cooperation. My colleagues have been helping me on a daily basis, and the company always pays attention to providing you the support you need.
Tell us about an ongoing project you consider important.
Sisens, no doubt. In the framework of the H2050 Health Innovation plan set up by the Xunta de Galicia through the Servizo Galego de Saúde (Galician health service), the project aims at designing the hospital of the future. It consists in creating a scenario for the automation and integration of patient’s vital signs measurement in a way that is transparent to the health care personnel, making it easier to identify both patients and health care professionals. The main advantage is being able to include bio-measurements, which saves time in manual registration and prevents any transcription errors.
Televes Corporation
TRedess consolidates as a leader in the medium and high power ranges
TRedess, the Televes Corporation firm specialising in solutions for signal transmission in Digital Terrestrial Television, consolidates as a relevant international player, not only in the transmitter, gap-filler, and low-power retransmitter segment, but also in the medium and high-power equipment segments. A sign of this qualitative leap is the fact of TRedess entering the Cellnex Telecom renovation project in Spain as a major player. Work has consistently been carried out in this line for the past three years, covering projects for leading operators in France, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, and Thailand.
The firm now gets a new spur with the appointment of Luis Grela as the new managing director. Grela is a Telecommunications engineer and has held the position of International Sales Manager since 2010. Further encouraging the medium and high-power solutions, which growth should come along with the new Fourth Series, is among his priorities. The equipment provide a wide range of power values, from a few watt up to 5 KW;they are very compact and have a high performance. They include Ultra Wide Band Doherty technology, which provides them an outstanding efficiency.
TRedess’ growth and internationalization has been very fast since 2012. It is currently present in 35 countries and has deployed over 17,000 equipment for some of the world leading operators

450XL reinforced braced tower
Red and white hot-galvanized sections.
This new series supports higher loads and heights of up to 120 metres in very adverse environmental conditions.
The following advantages are worth highlighting:
- Extremely easy and quick mounting, thanks to the sections that fit together.
- Anchoring system (without coupling nuts).
- High resistance to corrosion, thanks to the hot-galvanizing process (EN ISO1461).
- High mechanical strength.
- Higher load-bearing strength.
All sections - lower, intermediate, and higher - are 3-metre long. There are either white (RAL9002) or red (RAL3020) options, both oven-lacquered with polyester electrostatic powder to provide higher resistance to corrosion.
The hot-galvanizing together with the painting treatments provide this series with higher durability. Furthermore, these treatments together with the highly resistant materials and finishes used ensure the high resistance and durability of this series.
Applicability: The series is mainly recommended for the wind industry. The main advantage of this series is basically the easy and quick method for mounting the different sections together. In addition, it allows for an easy moving of the tower to a new site.

RTV-SAT solution for a household in a difficult reception site
Reception of satellite signals is sometimes difficult due to a bad location. It becomes necessary to find a site where signal reception is satisfactory despite it not being suitable for signal distribution, provided the long distances involved.
This type of installation involves a series of essential requirements: easy access to the electricity grid, transmission medium, and distance to the receiver.
A typical installation, which involves dealing with distances too long to use coaxial cable, is described below; it uses optical fibre as the main distribution method.
FAQs
I can’t add any new players to my DS account, why? What should I do?
For the cloud-based server ArantiaDS system, you can find the limit to the number of players assigned to the installation in the “Administration – Companies” section.
If a company wishes to increase the number of players, it needs to edit this option and insert the actual number of STBs to be associated to that account:
Once this action completed, the MAC address of the device you wish to link can be input in the “Devices – Player – Create Player” section:

MOSAIQ6: Wi-Fi network analyser
How do i tell which wi-fi network to connect to by using my meter ?
Thanks to the MOSAIQ6 multi-touch meter you can now perform a comprehensive analysis of the whole Wi-Fi band (both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz bands with option Ref. 596202) and connect to a network.
If the meter was previously connected to a given network, it will automatically connect to that same network in the future.
The "Wi-Fi analyser" can be found in the meter’s main menu, and is accessed by sliding the arrow at the centre right side of the display to the left (Picture 1).
The distribution of this option on screen (Picture 2) consists in 3 configurable square widgets at the top, and a rectangular widget at the bottom of the channel map.
MENU OPTIONS:
1) One of the 4 available options is a list of all the reachable Wi-Fi networks. The menu displays the names of the different Wi-Fi networks together with an orange bar; the larger the bar, the higher the network power. A double-click gives access to the full function (Picture 3), which displays the exact power data for each network. Besides the signal level of the Wi-Fi network in dBm, the menu displays the network name (SSID), BSSID, channel, frequency, and encryption method.
2) The second option is “Wi-Fi measurements” (Picture 4). Once in the full menu (double-click), the main 5 parameters (SSID, BSSID, channel, frequency, and encryption method) of the network to which the device is connected are displayed at the top right-hand side, and the 3 basic measurement parameters (level, noise, and SNR) at the top left-hand side; a chart representing the history of the level measurements during a time interval defined by the user (by moving the blue marker through the graph) is displayed at the bottom. The graph can be deleted at any time, and reset to restart all over again. In addition, the time interval for the chart can be set to 10 minutes, ½ hour, ½ day, 1 day, or a whole week.
3) The third option is the time chart (Picture 5). It displays the history of the levels of the different Wi-Fi networks that the device can reach. This option allows the user to analyse which of the available Wi-Fi networks was the most stable during the selected time interval. As in the previous case, several intervals can be selected: 10 minutes, ½ hour, ½ day, 1 day, or a whole week. For the analysis to be even more intuitive, each network is represented with a different colour.
4) The fourth option is the “channel map”, the only option admitting the rectangular widget at the bottom. This chart represents the distribution of the different Wi-Fi networks by channel (X axis) and carrier level (Y axis). When a given network is selected, the bottom left-hand side will display the main parameters for the network: level, SSID, BSSID, channel, frequency, and encryption
